ETHAN PHILLIPS

Ethan embarked on his freestyle journey with the Apex Freestyle Club, starting in the Jumps and Bumps program many years ago. Progressing through the ranks, he became a member of the Junior Competitive Team and, by the age of 12, received an invitation to join the prestigious Apex Freestyle Competitive Team.

Ethan's competitive trajectory saw him participate in every BC Timber Tour Series, securing numerous podium finishes. In 2016, he clinched Gold at the BC Winter Games, and in 2017, he earned the BC Spirit Award, recognized as the Best of Series for the 2017 BC Timber Tour season.

Throughout his competitive career, Ethan proudly represented British Columbia in three Canadian Junior National Championships, competed in Canada Cups, and showcased his skills at the 2018 Apex NorAm Championship.

After respectfully declining invitations to the British Columbia Mogul Team for three consecutive years, Ethan made the thoughtful decision to retire from competition. He embraced the opportunity to share his expertise and passion with aspiring young athletes pursuing their own competitive freestyle goals.

Ethan continues to enhance his coaching qualifications, now holding certifications in Air 1-4 and Air Doubles. When not coaching athletes on mogul courses, airbags, or water ramps, Ethan can be found on a snow-covered mountain, pushing the limits with his tricks or skinning up to the back bowls for some extra bonus rounds. His infectious passion for freestyle skiing and his adept ability to demonstrate the tricks he teaches are qualities admired and envied by many coaches.
